Pregnancy is an amazing time, and certainly one to be remembered fondly, pregnancy is the begining of a special and unforgetable milestone - that of parenthood.
The most beautiful time in a woman's life is when your bodies are doing the very things they were made to do - making babies! I have always loved capturing
expectant mothers, whether they are anticipating the delivery of their very first baby or are celebrating the unique state of carrying a life.
Maternity portraits should be about you. They should be about the your relationship with the world around you, with your baby,
your changing body, your changing identity (or retaining your identity), your family, your place in the world and your sexuality. Maternity portraits
should be about the moment, the waiting, the ephemeral time that will soon be gone, the joy, the hopes and the dreams.
Depending on what you want a small, subset of maternity portraits take a more formal approch which is neither about the belly itself or the expectant mother,
but which is concerned with treating the body as landscape or abstraction. There is a long tradition of this kind of photography, most of it in the form of art nudes.
These photographs tend to experiment with line, structure and composition.
Pregnancy is one of the most special moments in your life. Even though you may say otherwise, your belly is beautiful!
